Life Skills
Our Coalition has partnered with Boys and Girls Club of the Heartland to teach the Life Skills program to all students grades 3-12 who attend Boys and Girls Club in Butler County. This program focuses on teaching various lessons on topics such as:
- Making Healthy Decisions
- Communication Skills
- Healthy Relationships
- Reducing Stress
- Managing Anger
- Influence of Media
- Drug Resistance Skills
- Self-Esteem
- Decision- Making
- Smoking
- Advertising
- Dealing with Stress
- Communication Skills
- Social Skills
- Assertiveness
245 Students received Life Skills Lessons during the 2021-2022 school year.
Guiding Good Choices Parent Workshop
The coalition offers the Guiding Good Choices Parent Workshop to community members. The coalition has partnered with Haven House to offer this workshop to clients as well as Butler County Children’s Division to offer the workshop to families and foster parents. This workshop teaches parents what they can do to help prevent substance use with their children by educating caregivers on Risk and Protective factors.
Media Campaigns
The Coalition uses media campaigns to educate the community on the data surrounding youth substance use, along with effective practices to prevent substance use among youth.
Peace Builders
The coalition was able to acquire funds to purchase the Peacebuilders Curriculum for four local elementary schools.
This curriculum is for Elementary age students to help them learn ways to create safe and peaceful environments.
Videos
The coalition works with High School Students in Butler County to create prevention videos.
The coalition then pays for the videos to be shown at the local movie theater and through a streaming service.
